You just can’t get better than nearly 20 years of in-the-trenches experience in creative direction and project management in the world of advertising. Besides a trendy shoe wardrobe and killer rockstar flair, Scott’s all-embracing industry experience is what we admire most at MarketSpace Communications. Since the agency’s conception in 2005, Scott Merriman, our vice president of creative and director of digital, has used his greatness to help the agency acquire the robust market space it currently possesses.

Prior to bringing his fashionable creative powers to MarketSpace, Scott leveraged brand development in both corporate and agency environments. He held a comprehensive senior design position at the Pipitone Group, a creative agency in Pittsburgh for nearly seven years. There, his clients spanned the industrial, healthcare, retail and nonprofit industries, including GNC, Western Pennsylvania Sports Museum, The Greater Pittsburgh Convention and Visitors Bureau, The Pittsburgh Opera, SCA Packaging North America, FYE and many more. With such a wide range of clients, Scott became a connoisseur of all creative mediums, including advertising, direct mail, web, interactive, branding, packaging and retail display.

Scott came to MarketSpace in its infancy to help cultivate it into an all-inclusive, powerhouse advertising agency, and hasn’t let the fact that we bombard him with every request imaginable get the best of him yet. In fact, he handles it all pretty well and even has the wit to throw back a pun or two. Since his initiation, Scott has conquered the management of two of the agency’s departments — creative and digital — in addition to holding the unofficial roles of MarketSpace IT expert and office expansion guru.

Here, Scott’s branding brilliance includes the creation of an entire new brand and line of chocolates for Daffin’s Candies, the development of a calendar of promotions by season for Rich’s Products and the management of a rebrand for Ansaldo STS. Because of a curious personality, Scott thrives off of learning about different products and industries — a curiosity that surely contributes to his inventive savvy. His work is consistently original, trendsetting, strategic and efficient and he prospers when he’s afforded new opportunities to employ his design capacity to position clients under the spotlight.

When not holding down our fort, Scott digs music, outdoorsy activities, hockey, his fiancé Laura, food and cooking. He’s a pet-dad of a dog Blaze and two kitties, Scout and Nittany, and has a fascination with those black and gold Pens — and we’re not talking BIC or Paper Mate, people.
